Training & Consulting
ABOUT
Mission
Distinctive Voice Consulting empowers organizations, educators, and communities to build equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive environments. My mission is to increase equity and inclusion competencies through thoughtful, research-based training that honors each client’s unique needs. I listen deeply, design intentionally, and deliver customized solutions that foster awareness, strengthen communication, and create lasting organizational change.
Expertise & Approach
I specialize in helping organizations strengthen their equity and inclusion practices through:
Customized DEI Training & Facilitation: Tailored workshops that meet participants where they are — from foundational awareness to advanced equity strategy.
Courageous Conversations: Guided discussions about race, class, gender, and identity using adult learning theory and nonpolarizing facilitation.
Organizational Assessment & Strategy: Equity audits, climate assessments, and recommendations to support long-term cultural transformation.
Leadership & Staff Development: Coaching and training for leaders, teams, and educators seeking to deepen their cultural competency.
Community Engagement & Dialogue: Inclusive, affirming spaces that encourage learning, reflection, and connection across differences.
My signature approach is grounded in grace, clarity, and psychological safety — creating environments where people can learn, grow, and engage without fear of judgment.
Professional bio
Kimberly Harris is the founder and proprietor of Distinctive Voice Consulting, an equity and inclusion training practice established in 2014. With more than two decades of experience in education, multicultural consulting, and community engagement, Kimberly is known for her ability to facilitate meaningful conversations about race, class, gender, and identity in ways that are accessible, affirming, and transformative.
She holds a Master’s degree in Education from Western Washington University, where she completed graduate coursework in cultural pluralism, group dynamics, and adult learning. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Humanities from the University of California – Berkeley. As a multicultural woman of color raised in the diverse communities of Los Angeles, Kimberly brings lived experience, academic grounding, and global perspective to her work.
Her background includes living overseas, working for an international airline, and traveling extensively — experiences that deepened her appreciation for cultural nuance and global diversity. She is also a cofounder of the Bellingham Racial Justice Coalition and has facilitated equity-focused workshops for community colleges, nonprofits, businesses, and civic groups.
Kimberly’s facilitation style is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and respect. She creates nonjudgmental, nonpolarizing learning environments where participants feel safe to explore complex topics and grow in their understanding. Her multiracial heritage, international experience, and graduate training in cultural pluralism uniquely equip her to help individuals and organizations build bridges across differences.
